Reaching New Heights
The Jane Street Academy of Math and Programming is a five-week educational program for recent high school graduates passionate about STEM who have also experienced barriers to accessing advanced educational opportunities. Over the course of the program, students will dive deep into topics like computer programming, data analysis, game theory, and more. AMP takes place in New York City, is completely free, and awards students a $5,000 scholarship to put towards future academic opportunities.
To celebrate this year’s application opening, we put together a NYC-themed skyscrapers logic puzzle that we encourage you to try. While applications are now closed for the 2024 season, you can stay in the know about future AMP programs here.
Puzzle instructions:
Place a number between one and six in each square such that no number repeats in the same row or column. Each number represents a New York City skyscraper of the corresponding height. The numbers outside the grid indicate how many skyscrapers are visible in that direction. Note that taller skyscrapers block the view of shorter skyscrapers located behind them.
Once the cityscape is completed, trace the routes horizontally and vertically (but not diagonally) through adjacent skyscrapers to find a hidden message. A route may intersect with itself but not with any other route.

Routes:
- 256215
- 26123546
- 425456
- 54643163
- 5632314
